Breadfruit Tacos
— Crispy, Golden, and Caribbean-Inspired
Breadfruit Tacos are a fun and creative Caribbean twist on classic tacos, using thinly sliced breadfruit to create crispy, golden taco shells. This recipe highlights the versatility of breadfruit while keeping preparation simple and flavorful.
The breadfruit slices are lightly salted, softened in hot water, then shaped and fried until crisp on the outside while remaining tender inside. Once fried, they form the perfect shell for a variety of fillings.
These breadfruit tacos can be stuffed with traditional favorites like saltfish, ackee and saltfish, callaloo, or even modern fillings like jerk chicken or sautéed vegetables, making them ideal for appetizers, parties, or a unique main dish.
